My Coaching Principles

  • Do.

“Please God, let me win the lottery”. The lord answered,“I would love to but please buy a lottery ticket”. I love this aphorism which highlights one of my principles so well. It’s great to be clear on your goals, but you also have to position yourself to maximise your likelihood of success. After all, “luck is when preparation meets opportunity” - Seneca.

  • Look.

Specifically, look at where your feet are. Life can move pretty quickly, as Ferris Bueller said “If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” While big picture thinking is crucial to anchoring yourself to goals, a great deal of my coaching philosophy is rooted in Buddhist principles. It’s important to dream, and it’s important to feel grounded and conscious of the present as you do so.

  • Decide.

…On your guiding principles. We live at a time where religion is not at the foundation of a lot of our lives. This may leave a vacuum for many who do not have a set of guiding values on which to decide how to navigate themselves. Knowing your values will help give your life a lot more clarity and enable you to make decisions with ease.

  • Act.

“Without action, the world would still be an idea” - Georges Doriot. Being a perfectionist is an excuse, and sometimes you need someone to call you out on that. Enough delaying, enough planning, enough considering, I am here to help you diagnose what is going on for you, strategise and act. An action doesn’t have to be big, it just needs to be done. Before you know it you’ll have made serious progress to your goals.

  • Be.

There is so much twisting, contorting, moulding that we do to fit in. I saw a great sign in the tube saying “be your unique self and you’ll see the world has a wonderful way of adjusting to you". Celebrate yourself, especially your unusual parts, you’ll see that people are drawn to that light and doors that are meant for you will open.

  • Share.

I believe that some of the best opportunities to better ourselves come from the most minute interactions. If you can show up in the smallest of moments then you have the power to change your whole world.
